Kit
Carson is the most trusted friend of Tex, so that the ranger called the son of
the same name, and although He is not young any more (in fact, except for the
appearance of the earliest books, has an age of about 55 years) is a valuable
help both in the fighting arms in hand, which in physical fights. Although he is an incurable pessimist
(he is always ready to make predictions funeral) does not hesitate to follow
the pard in dangerous situations where he goes plunging, and plans to go along
with the more adventurous companion offers.
He is a great gunfighter: only in the comic Tex shoots better than
him. he is also a good shot with the
rifle Winchester , a weapon that uses perhaps even
better than the colt. Little is
known of the history of Carson and in particular the period prior to the
meeting with Night Eagle, except that he lived for a time in the city of
Bannock in Montana (In the issue n. 407: The Past of Carson ) . In
the episode, which tells of the events that took place there, is hinted (though
not officially confirmed) that Carson is the natural father of Donna , born from his relationship with the
singer Lena Parker, Ray
Clemmons (the adoptive
father) is their same daughter (Tex n.
407-408-409).
When he is presented with Tex, Carson is already a famous Ranger of Texas, and the two, and another ranger named Joe Arkansas, known at the time of enrollment in the same body of armed Tex, which until then had been an outlaw, recruitment takes place through the work of conviction made by the head of the West Department, Major Herbert Marshall. The scene was immortalized in one of the first books to strip, is now present in 1 of the current format (the red hand).
The stainless friendship between the two is cemented In the album Outlaw: In this episode Tex is wrongly accused
because of plots carried out his nemesis Mephisto. Carson is the only one to believe in
his innocence, so that helps his escape, contributing not only to his
rehabilitation, but also the return of his friend in the ranks of rangers.
While remaining formally framed by the ranger with the rank of
major (although in the episode War Cry is called "Colonel") from that
moment Carson will always be there for Tex in his missions and together with
two other characters, Kit Willer , son of Tex and godson of Carson, and Tiger Jack , a native Navajo , will form an unbeatable team.
On one occasion he was found, together with Kit, from the opposite
side with respect to his friend barricade and precisely in n. 40 entitled the tragic bridge. All this happens through the arts hypnotic infernal Mephisto, who throws them
first against the Navajos and then transforms them into vicious robbers.
True
gentleman with the ladies, Kit Carson is considered, in spite of his
distinctive hair, mustache and goatee gray-white, an inveterate womanizer. Although he usually complains about
the flaws of age and inconvenience which forces him Tex, cannot stand to be
called "old man", although sometimes he himself ironically call
themselves so. He does not
particularly like traveling by train because of the hard seat backs and, if
possible, always prefers to travel on horseback.
Carson is also known for having a soft spot for steaks "high
three fingers" surrounded by "a mountain" of fries and
accompanied by a glass of beer and sometimes a fresh apple pie. In addition, according to Tex and his
companions, is able to prepare a good coffee ("black hot").
The nickname by which pards are usually good-natured banter is
"Old camel." He usually
use characteristic expressions such as "Great Potiphar!" or "By the beard of
Jehoshaphat!" (In critical
situations), "Ember of hell" (addressing usually Tex), often gives
authentic pearls of imaginative curses, among many report: "Horns of a
hundred thousand devils and lame-eyed!" or
"Methuselah's Beard dancer."
Adios amigos... would meet with yet another daring adventure of Tex Carson Kit and Tiger...
